Jayne Pupek
is the author of the novel, Tomato Girl, (Algonquin Books, 2008) and two poetry collections: The Livelihood of Crows (Mayapple Press, forthcoming 2010)
and Forms of Intercession, (Mayapple Press, 2008). Jayne's writing has appeared in
numerous literary journals and

anthologies
and has received multiple Pushcart Prize nominations.
Jayne grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, where
she developed an early love of books and animals. She began writing as soon as she was old enough to hold a pencil and credits
her teacher, Dora Shiflett, for inspiring her love of books. In college, she was fortunate to study poetry with award-winning
poet Lisa Russ Spaar, who introduced her to contemporary poets and encouraged Jayne to write. Jayne has also studied with
poet and novelist, Susan Hankla and has participated in numerous workshops and writing groups. Jayne enjoys working with writers
of all levels through private consultations. She provides manuscript evaluation and developmental editing for memoirs, poetry,
and works of fiction.
An avid and
eclectic reader, Jayne devours a wide range of authors and genres. She is also an avid fan of movies, and like her tastes
in books, her tastes in films vary from foreign and independent to thrillers and horror movies. Jayne dabbles with watercolors,
enjoys journaling, collects cloth and ethnic dolls, and adores Indian cuisine, sushi, and dark chocolate.
A Virginia
native and former social worker, Jayne currently resides near Richmond, Virginia with her husband, two sons, and a menagerie
of animal companions. She is currently working on her second novel and a third poetry collection.
Jayne has never met an animal she didn't like, but particularly loves dogs, monkeys, and parrots.
Her house is beginning to resemble a zoo, and she wouldn't have it any other way.
Thankfully, she is married to a patient man, who seldom complains about the feathers in the tuna noodle casserole.
